Jeff,

I've just this weekend finished a cheap, conservative modification of the Savage exhaust. Left the inner baffles, but modified the end unit that it now has a "tuned" 1&3/8" (vs 3/4") exhaust port diameter with a really cool 2-ranked stepped look to it. I got the welding done for free and have about $8.00 cash and a lot of fun hours invested. Had to make (cast) a header pipe/muffler gasket out of high temp silicone since I didn't want to invest $20.00 for a factory gasket. I'll be road testing it later this week. I'll send a sketch and procedure if you'd lke one. It might not offer any performance improvement, but if my calculations are correct it should provide a lower, louder sound & it sure looks great! Send me a SASE and I'll share the plans.
